Yes, if used long-term in an incompatible engine. Most BS4 and older Indian vehicles are designed to handle up to 10% ethanol (E10). Sustained usage of E20 fuel can accelerate corrosion in metal fuel tanks, degrade older rubber hoses, and cause carburetors to run lean, leading to misfires.
How can I find ethanol-free E0 petrol in India?
True E0 petrol is no longer sold as a standard regular fuel grade. However, premium super-high-octane fuels, specifically IndianOil XP100, Bharat Petroleum Speed 100, and Hindustan Petroleum poWer100, are formulated as pure, ethanol-free gasoline.
